Registration Process
For a company to be successful in the ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 registration process, they must have met the following criteria:
- Full implementation of the entire documented quality system.
- Completion of one cycle of management reviews.
- Participation in one round of internal quality audits.
- Have appointed a management representative to oversee the quality process.
Our registration process includes the following steps:
Optional Pre-Assessment – Gap Analysis
STR-R's pre-assessment gives clients a good indication of whether their quality management system meets the prerequisite requirements needed for registration. The QMS documentation is reviewed for compliance with the pertinent Standard followed by verification of its implementation. Pre-assessments are tailored to each client’s specific needs, but typically cover one day per site. Clients receive a verbal summary of findings at the conclusion of the visit.

Off-site or On-site Documentation Review
We review each client's system documentation – either off- or on-site – to determine that it adequately addresses the appropriate ISO 9001:2000 or AS9100 requirements. Any significant omissions are reported to the client in writing. A customized audit checklist is also developed to enable the audit team to reference the certification requirements, as well as the client’s documented practices while conducting the initial audit.

Registration Assessment
STR-R conducts an on-site evaluation of the client’s implemented quality management system, as well as ISO 9001:2000 or AS9100 requirements. This includes interviewing personnel in any department or area, and at any management level, who have responsibilities and authorities associated with the intended scope of the client’s registration. Results are reported verbally at the conclusion of the audit, and, subsequently, in a written report. Any major system weakness or nonconformance to the standard identified during this Initial audit must be addressed to the satisfaction of STR-R prior to registration of the client’s system.

Registration/Certification
STR-R's Certification Committee reviews the audit team’s recommendation, along with their report and all associated documentation, independently. When all requirements have been met, STR-R will issue an ISO 9001:2000 or AS9100 Registration Certificate for the scope of the business evaluated. This certificate is valid for three years subject to satisfactory completion of surveillance audits and payments of associated fees. Organizations can use the STR-R Certification Mark to advertise their achievement after receiving the registration certificate.

Surveillance Visits
Surveillance visits are conducted annually after the date of the initial accreditation audit. These audits are conducted to determine that the quality management system continues to be implemented in accordance with planned arrangements and that the system continues to be compliant to the required standard.
